Maya is a multidisciplinary artist working with watercolor painting, video art, collage, installation, writing, sewing, and performance. She understands art as a way of living, rather than as an isolated object. The work grows from daily choices, rhythms, and forms of attention.
Her practice explores how reality is shaped by invisible systems, cultural habits, and inherited meanings. She is interested in the meeting point between nature and domestication, and in how spirituality survives within everyday life. Through symbols and archetypes, she questions what it means to be a critter (human or non-human) on this earth.
Maya often works through collage, layering images, materials, and textures to allow multiple readings to exist at once. The surreal appears in her work as a tool for reimagining reality, rather than escaping it. These parallel worlds suggest that reality is almost as flexible as the practice of art making itself, at least in the ways we each choose to perceive and experience it.
Living within an era of excess images, her practice responds by reworking what already exists. She seeks intimacy and compassion within overstimulated conditions. Her work offers softness as a form of resistance and attention as a form of care.
